Since moving to Brisbane in January, I have been working on design projects, visiting galleries and taking loads of photos, but haven't been sketching a great deal. So, in my attempt to reconcile this and also satisfy my long term desire to learn some traditional oil painting techniques, I have been attending regular classes with Marcel Desbiens: www.marceldesbiens.com. A number of artists host workshops here, but I really liked Marcel's work, and the level of realism he captures in his paintings. He is also a very patient teacher and comfortable teaching a complex medium to students of all levels. Over the next weeks, months and hopefully beyond, I will post my painting progress. In addition to the painting, I have returned to my drawing table and will have some drawings to share also. Here is a pile of selected bits, more to come. Enjoy!
